Boateng's debut delayed, Asamoah missing in Juve win

How Ghanaian players fared in the Italian Serie A on Wednesday

Kevin-Prince Boateng was an unused substitute as Emanuele Giaccherini gave Bologna a shock 1-0 victory at San Siro, as Milan paid for wasteful finishing.

The Ghana international watched the entire duration of the game from the bench as an offcial Milan player after completing his return to the Rossoneri on Monday, having been training at Milanello since September.

His compatriot, Godfred Donsah, also did not feature for Bologna in the game.

Kwadwo Asamoah was also a bench warmer asan eighth successive Serie A victory at the expense of basement side Hellas Verona has lifted champions Juventus up to second in the Serie A standing on Wednesday afternon.

Paulo Dybala started 2016 the way he finished 2015, scoring a magnificent goal with a curling free kick into the near top corner.

Leonardo Bonucci extended Juve’s lead before the break with a bullet header on Dybala’s corner.

Simone Zaza replaced a disappointing Alvaro Morata and scored four minutes later, springing the offside trap on a Pogba pass to beat the goalkeeper from a tight angle.

Asamoah has featured only three time for Juventus this season against Bologna, Atalanta and Lazio.

Emmanuel Agyemang Badu played full 90 minutes as Cyril Thereau and Stipe Perica got his Udinese’s side off to a strong start of the year, beating Atalanta 2-1.

Udinese opened the scoring when Marco Sportiello performed a stunning save on Dias Felipe’s header from a corner, but could do nothing on the Thereau follow-up.

On the stroke of half-time Perica doubled Udinese’s lead with a trademark header from a curling Bruno Fernandes cross.

Atalanta did get one back when Gomez’s cross swerved into the path of Marco D’Alessandro to finish it off neatly from six yards.

Rahman Chibsah was also in action for Frosinone as they drew 2-2 with his former club Sassuolo.

Frosinone took a shock lead thanks to an absolute howler from goalkeeper Andrea Consigli.  The usually reliable shot-stopper let a Federico Dionisi cross-shot bounce off his gloves and under the bar.

The equaliser was also somewhat strange, as Gregoire Defrel’s snapshot from outside the area took a huge deflection off Arlen Ajeti to wrong-foot Nicola Leali.

It was a dramatic Serie A debut for Albania international Ajeti, as he scored to restore Frosinone’s lead on the stroke of half-time, rising to nod in a Pavlovic corner.

After the restart Berardi’s angled drive flashed across the face of goal and the Sassuolo pressure paid off, as Diego Falcinelli was quick to react by volleying in at the back post when a Berardi cross was knocked down.

Chibsah played 76 minutes of the game and was substituted by Frara.
