Is this the most ridiculous dive ever in football history?

Watch video of the most embarrassing dive in football history which happened in Brazil this weekend!

As reported by Give Me Sport, the 31-year-old was shown red during the first half whilst playing for Bahia against Flamengo in the Brazilian Serie A.

Having been booked six minutes previously, Fonseca found himself embroiled in an incident with Flamengo's Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero, and after moving a safe distance away, threw himself to the ground feigning having been punched in the face.

The referee had a good view of the incident, and would have been almost certainly laughing about Fonseca's histrionics later in private, albeit having shown the player his second yellow with a less-than-impressed face.

With Bahia currently in the relegation zone, and the pressures of football in Brazil being immense, both fans and players of the club most probably didn't see the funny side in Fonseca's ridiculous dive at the time either.

The recent advent of video technology refereeing will alleviate the problems of decisions going the wrong way in football, and possibly eliminate diving all together due to retrospective action being taken against offenders.

However, what a shame it would be if were never too see such amusing and flamboyant displays of blatant diving like this ever again
