Former Destiny's Child Star Mourns Her Mother

Its has been a diffcult week for Kelly Rowland as she is mourning the death of her mother. E! News and AP report that Doris Rowland Garrison died Tuesday in Atlanta after suffering cardiac arrest on Monday. She was 66.

The former Destiny's Child star announced the news in a statement. "It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Doris Rowland Garrison. She was an incredible soul who made sacrifices so that I could become the woman—and now mother—I am today," Rowland said Wednesday.

"We humbly appreciate all the love and support and only ask for privacy during this difficult time."

The death comes just weeks after the Rowland and her husband Tim Weatherspoon happily welcomed son Titan Jewell to the family. Kelly has remained silent on social media but her good friend and former Destiny's Child band member Beyoncé posted a small tribute to Doris on Instagram, a picture of grey skies.

It had been a year of triumph and tragedy for Kelly.
