Claude Le Roy is optimistic Kwesi Appiah Kwesi Appiah will succeed as Black Stars coach on his return to the team.

Appiah, 56 beat off competition from Willy Sagnol and Hugo Broos to be named the Black Stars coach on Tuesday.

Claude Le Roy, who was assisted by Kwesi Appiah during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), believes his lieutenant will restore Ghana's past glory.

"Appiah is honest and a very good gentleman, i know very well that he will be successful," he said

"He can build a strong team that can challenge for titles, i have no doubt that he will make it".
