Mahama to kick-start official campaign in Western Region

President John Dramani Mahama and his National Democratic Congress are expected to kick-start their nationwide campaign tour from the Western region this week.

The President, during the tour is expected to visit sixteen (16) communities in the region.

Among the constituencies President Mahama would be touring are Amenfi Central, Amenfi East, Prestea-Huni-Valley, Tarkwa, Evalue Ajomoro Gwira, Ellembele, Jomoro and Ahanta West.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has officially launched the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) campaign for the 2016 election.

The president declared the campaign duly launched at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the Central region on Sunday, August 14, 2016.

Thousands of party supporters thronged the Cape coast sports stadium to be part of the event which signals the party’s preparedness to retain power in the December polls.

President Mahama’s running mate, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as well as the party’s national campaign team and parliamentary candidates were outdoored at the event.

The theme of the NDC campaign is "Changing lives, transforming Ghana."

The campaign outlined the government's achievements and what it intends to do when given another term in office.

Launching the campaign, President Mahama, who is seeking a second term on the ticket of the NDC, justified why Ghanaians should give him a second chance in the upcoming polls.

According to him, if the NDC is “given another term we’ll do even more,” which will enable the party “continue to change more lives and transform Ghana.”

“I pledge to remain true to the ideals of the party. It’s going to be a hard election… we have what it takes to win,” the president said.
