This was confirmed by the Regional Health Directorate to pulse.com.gh. The Public Relations Officer of the regional directorate Rebecca Apkwonu who confirmed this said they are putting in measures to curb the situation.

“Yes there is an outbreak in the Central Region. We have a team from head office currently working hard towards containing it. The communication is also doing some social mobilisation and radio discussion programs just to tell the signs and symptoms of the disease and its prevention.”

She also denied media reports that some of the infected patients have died due to the disease.

“There is no death. As about an hour ago we had recorded no death.”

She therefore, cautioned the general public especially residents of Cape Coast to be extra hygienic and also be mindful of the cleanliness in their surroundings.

She finally encouraged all to report to a health centre immediately they start experiencing any symptoms of cholera.
