The US Embassy in Ghana yesterday announced that a new ambassador to Ghana had been sworn in to take over from Gene A. Cretz, who was sworn-in by US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on September 11, 2012.
USA's latest ambassador to Ghana, Robert P. Jackson, will be the 23rd ambassador the United States has sworn in since Embassy in Accra was established March 6, 1957, with Donald W. Lamm in charge as chargé d'affaires.
Before taking up the position of ambassador to Ghana, he became Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs in October 2013 and most recently served as Ambassador to the Republic of Cameroon.

Mr. Jackson has been a Member of the Senior Foreign Service since December 2003. In 2006, he received the James A. Baker III – C. Howard Wilkins, Jr., Award for Outstanding Deputy Chief of Mission. He has also received three individual superior honor awards and two individual meritorious honor awards.

He is expected to start full operation from Ghana in January 2016.
