Dwamena started his football at the defunct Sogakope Red Bull Academy before joining Red Bull Salzburg and then later played for FC Liefering.

Rafael Dwamena has scored 30 goals in the 2016-17 season to emerge as the most prolific Black Stars striker in Europe.

His stats made it difficult for James Kwesi Appiah to leave him out of his provisional 30-man squad for Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia

The free scoring striker has registered nine goals for FC Zurich, a side he joined in January.

Rafael Dwamena earned his debut Black Stars call-up under Avram Grant but he failed to make the cut for the final 23-man squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
