Recognised increasingly as a leading voice among the African diaspora following his critically acclaimed Docu-Films “Ghana: Africa’s Exciting Entry Point?” And “Nigeria: Can Its Youth Shape Its Future?” Norman Busigu has been invited to attend Afro Nation 2025 as Official Press. He will extensively cover and document this year’s events at the renowned festival.

Thanks are given to Zeitgeist and the Afro Nation Team.

This highly anticipated fifth anniversary edition of the festival will be headlined by Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Davido and Tems, and takes place 9th-11th July 2025 on Praia da Rocha beach, Portimão, The Algarve.

Afro Nation stands as the world's largest celebration of African music and culture. Since launching in 2019, Afro Nation has played a part in global stars like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido reaching headline status on major mainstream festival line-ups around the world.

Afro Nation transcends borders, uniting the diaspora in a global celebration of dance, food, fashion, music and enjoyment. More than just a festival, Afro Nation’s influence reaches far and wide, with successful editions launched not only in Europe, but also in America, the Caribbean and Africa, with more expansions on the horizon. Afro Nation Portugal welcomes over 40,000 attendees that travel in from over 170 countries worldwide.

Norman Busigu is an award winning, critically acclaimed independent filmmaker, broadcaster, model and proud British-Ugandan who is based in London, UK. Impressively, he has recently attended a string of global festivals in June - having been Official Press at Cannes Lions 2025, and was awarded an all-access Platinum Pass to attend SXSW London 2025.

More widely, he has been recognised by GQ South Africa as “Africa’s Modern Storyteller” for his pioneering work by using film/media to help positively (re)shape the perception of Africa globally. Busigu’s Docu-Films have also been spotlighted by mainstream publications/platforms such as Yahoo! Finance, shortlisted for film festivals across Europe and America, and screened at the likes of Soho House (across the UK, Europe and America) Cambridge University and the School of Oriental and African Studies.

Speaking with Pulse Ghana exclusively in the lead up to the festival, Busigu expressed how excited he is to attend! He explained that he previously attended the first edition of the festival in 2019, which for him was an experience he will never forget – he describes it as the closest thing to being in Africa, while being outside of Africa.

He distinctly remembers the unity of all peoples in attendance, the proud Afrocentrism and non-stop enjoyment of African culture in all its forms from beginning to end. For Busigu, this makes it a remarkable festival that simply cannot be compared to anything else.

Attending Afro Nation in a working capacity as Press for Busigu is deeply personal – this one is literally, as he says “for the culture!”

He wants the world to see how vibrant and special our culture is, and the incredible work Afro Nation are doing. When asked to pick who he is most excited to see live, without hesitation, he said Tems! Its Busigu’s goal to meet and interview her – he is also a very big fan of her work!

Going back to the festival after 6 years, Busigu is excited to observe and document the evolution of the festival from 2019, and really serve as a conduit to show the wider world just how special the festival is through being Official Press.
