Striker receives Guinness World Records for EPL goal record

Jamie Vardy  has received his Guinness World Records certificate for scoring in 11 successive Premier League games.

The 28-year-old  a created a the Premier League history of scoring in 11 consecutive games, beating Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of 10.

The England striker accepted the award at Leicester City’s ground ahead of his side’s away trio at Swansea this weekend.

Vardy has already secured the record for the Most Consecutive Games scored in the Premier League which currently stands at 11 games but has every chance of smashing the long standing outright record for the Most Consecutive Games scored in the English Top Flight held by former Sheffield United player Jimmy Dunne who scored in 12 games running back in 1931-32.

“I’m delighted to have broken the record, but the most important thing is that the team is getting positive results," Vardy told the Guinness World Records said about the certificate.

"I’ve managed to get on the end of things, but it’s my teammates that have got me into the positions and all of our hard work that is making the difference.

"The record is a nice thing to have, but I don’t mind who is scoring the goals, as long as we keep picking up points in every time we go on the pitch."
