The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Allotey Jacobs, says the party has failed to propagate fully its achievements because it is not media-friendly.
He said it was unfortunate that their inability to court the friendship of the media had made it difficult to make their successes in governance and in the development of infrastructure in the country known to the people.
“It is not right. You can’t underrate the role of the press and be successful as a political party,” he said.
Mr Jacobs was speaking at a press soiree organised by the Central Regional NDC in Cape Coast last Sunday.
He said the Central Regional executive were committed to bridging the gap between the party and the press to ensure that the nation was made aware of the party’s achievements in government.
He advised media houses to be circumspect in their choice of commentators in order to avoid people who are in the habit of using bad language.
He further urged them to avoid using the airwaves to slander others who did not have the opportunity to react to such slander.
