Residents in and around the Burma Camp are now being compelled to take along their national identification cards before entering military installations including the residential camps. The military has began this rigorous process as a check against military extremism. The development also comes on the back of reports of an ongoing recruitment by the lslamist militant group ISIS in Ghana.

So far, two Ghanaians are believed to have joined the group in their base at Iraq and Syria.

Security expert, David Agbei, in an interview with Starr fM has hailed the process and believes that the military is doing what is expected of them.

“What they are doing, they are trying to protect every Ghanaian. You know recently we have been experiencing all these insurgencies, especially across the African continent. So the security agencies and the military are all on alert because they don’t want anybody to take them on by surprise. So they are doing what is expected of them”.

Mr. Agbei further believed that the process should be extended to other vital areas as well to increase security in the country.
