Multiple injunctions placed on elections in some areas

A Sekondi High Court has placed an injunction on the district assembly elections at West Tanokrom in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis in the Western region.The plaintiff Samuel Kwesi Anderson is the immediate past Assembly Member for the area who is seeking re-election for a fourth term. But the EC disqualified him for allegedly falsifying his school qualification.Also in Odumase-Krobo, a Koforidua High Court has granted an injunction barring the EC from conducting the assembly elections in the Akuse-Natriku electoral area.The injunction was granted following an application by Kloma Gbi (a Krobo youth advocacy group) and one Sakitey Asare, a concerned citizen of the area who are jointly contesting the placement of the Akuse-Natriku electoral area under the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra region instead of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern region.Notice of the injunction, which was granted by the court on Monday has since been served on the EC.
