DeCastro inked a six-year contract extension on Thursday, keeping him in the Steel City through to the end of the 2021 season.

According to reports, the contract is worth approximately $58 million with a $16m signing bonus.

DeCastro, 26, was due just over $8m this season, but will earn $10m annually after 2016. The annual salary is the same the Chicago Bears recently gave to three-time Pro Bowl guard Kyle Long over four years.

The Steelers selected DeCastro from Stanford with the 24th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He has started 50 of 51 games, including 40 straight starts and three play-off games heading into this season.

DeCastro's agent, Tom Condon, also worked an extension for New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees this week.

The Steelers have made a commitment to protecting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger with $134m now invested in their starting offensive linemen.
