Gillett, 28, joined the Broncos as a teenager and made his debut in 2010, before establishing himself as a Queensland State of Origin player.

Broncos chief executive Paul White was delighted with the re-signing of Gillett, who made his first appearance for Australia two years ago.

"Matt is a wonderful rugby league player but also a thoroughly decent person. His efforts for the club on and off the field do not go unnoticed," he said.

"We are really excited Matt has chosen to commit to the Broncos for such a long time.

"It shows the regard he has for the club, but also exhibits just how much the Broncos want to make Matt a part of our future.

"He is part of a group of young leaders at our club that are very important to us as we move forward.

"We congratulate him and his young family on this announcement, and look forward to watching him grow and develop over the coming years."

The re-signing is a huge coup for the Broncos during the finals, having beaten the Gold Coast Titans 44-28 on Friday.

The win set up a semi-final meeting with the North Queensland Cowboys.
