Gimba Emen, a Mararaba resident, allegedly ejected his girlfriend, Jessica Ibrahim, from his home after getting her pregnant under the guise of wanting to marry her.

The Prosecutor, Sergeant Samuel Okoro, told the court that Emen had on the 4th of January asked Jessica for a relationship and she consented.

He then promised to marry her and they began to live together.

“The accused cohabited with Jessica and had sexual intercourse with her which resulted into pregnancy,’’ Okoro said.

"He drove her out of the house without providing for her needs alleged."

Okoro revealed that Jessica is already seven months gone.

He said Emen's offence contravenes Section 383 of the Penal Code which prescribes a three-year jail term.

But Emen denied committing the offence, adding that his relationship with Jessica was in the past.

His bail application was countered by the Prosecutor who accused him of trying to abdicate his responsibility.

The presiding judge, Vincent Gwehemba, adjourned the case to the 17th of August and ordered that the accused be remanded in Keffi Prison.
