GIJ student arrested for sneaking in ‘thumb-printed’ ballot papers during SRC elections

Students of the institute went to the polls on Friday to elect new Executives of the SRC for the 2019/2020 semesters.

However, the exercise was marred by allegations of rigging after a final-year student was caught trying to stuff a ballot box.

An eyewitness said he was busted removing already thumb printed ballot papers from a secret compartment in his belt.

Reports suggest he had 20 thumb-printed ballot papers in favour of one candidate and was placing them in the ballot box when he was caught.
