Contestants in the just ended 2017 National Science and Maths Quiz scored A1s in all subjects in the recently-concluded  West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The students who represented their various schools to compete in the Science and Maths Quiz found out when the results were released on Wednesday that they had A1 in all subjects they sat for, including Physics, Core Maths, Elective Maths and Chemistry.

Zuweira Baba Mohammed, one of the Senior High School students who represented Tamale Senior High School scored six A1s in Physics, Core Maths, Elective Maths and Chemistry and two Bs in Social Studies and Biology.

She was however, crowned the 'Best Female Contestant' at the 2017 NSMQ.

Congratulations to Bright Asiedu and Christopher Anamalia who represented St Thomas Aquinas SHS. Bright Asiedu has seven A1s and a B whiles Christopher Anamalia scored eight A1s.

At the Fijai SHS, the contestants, Wendy Ama Koranteng and Audrey Esi Dzantse scored eight A1s in all the subject.

Meanwhile, the entire results of candidates from 185 schools have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into various cases of examination malpractice detected during and after the conduct of the examination by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

WAEC said for English Language, 155,077, representing 54.06% obtained between A1 and C6 while 73,409 (25.59%) had between D7 and E8 while 58, 351, representing 20.35%, had F9.

For Mathematics WAEC stated that 122,450 (42.73%) had A1-C6 while 106, 024 (37%) had D7-E8 and a total of 58,070 (20.27%) had F9.

In Integrated Science, 125,204 (43.66%) passed (A1-C6) while 84851 (29.59%) obtained D7-E8.

About 26.75%, translating to 76,693 failed (F9) in Integrated Science.

According to WAEC, 67,078 failed in Social Studies while 149, 806 passed (A1-C6). 69,795 obtained between D7 and E8.
