Kwesi Appiah justifies selection of Black Stars squad for Congo clash

24-man squad has been released by the technical team of the Black Stars ahead of their clash against Congo.

Old faces like Mubarak Wakaso, Agyemang Badu, Afriyie Acquah, Majeed Waris and Adam Kwarasey were overlooked when the 24-man squad was released.

But the Ghana gaffer believes giving new players the opportunity to have a feel of the Black Stars is very necessary because Ghana have a pool of talents to tap when it comes to player selection, so that they can take over from experienced and ageing like Asamoah and the rest in the near future.

“Ghana has got a lot of talent, and it very important we also try to introduce one or two so that they could be assessed by all Ghanaians.

“It shouldn’t be only the coach choosing who should come and play for the Black Stars, we should give Ghanaians the opportunity to also say that if Asamoah Gyan is not there, we should have someone who can also replace him that why I always try to bring new players,” Kwasi Appiah said told the media at the launch of his foundation yesterday.

He added: “There are lot of new players waiting but those we have now have to prove that they deserve to there.”
