Swansea City start pre-season training, Black Stars vice captain missing

Black Stars vice-captain Andre Ayew has been given extra time off as Swansea City begin pre-season training.

The Black Stars captain and Euro 2016 participants Ashley Williams, Neil Taylor, Luas Fabianski, Gylfi Sigurdsson alongside Jefferson Montero and Ki Sung-Yueng have been given extra time off for representing their countries.

The players were taken through a series of tests at the club’s Landore training ground.

Nathan Dyer reported back at Swansea City after winning the English Premier League title on loan at Leicester City last season.

Swansea City performance director Richard Buchanan said the tests that were being run on the players will serve as the baseline score as to when they returned to the club.

The scores will be used in conditioning players for the entire season and also guide in the prevention of injuries as the Premier League season progresses.

Andre Ayew joined Swansea City at the start of last season. The Ghanaian player ended his debut season in the Premier League as the top goal scorer for Swansea City.

The former Olympique Marseille player has been linked with a transfer move a host of top clubs have been reported interested.
