She said such a move will help ensure early detection and treatment of breast cancer, and also to reduce breast cancer-related diseases affecting women.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of National Basic Oncology training for community-based nurses drawn from the Ashanti and Eastern regions on Monday, Ms Afisa Djaba said: "It is a proposal we are bringing, if we can implement ‘1-District, 1-Factory’, then, we can also implement ‘1-District, 1-Breast Care Centre’, so that we can bring treatment right to the community level.”
She further revealed that the government is adding people living with some diseases like haemophilia, hole-in-heart, autism, sickle cell among other diseases to the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme to help them get financial aid in treating such diseases.
The minister believed that such diseases do not allow women to give off their best.
She added that with maximum support from the government, the trend will change.
