7 more suspects arrested

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested seven (7) more suspects who are believed to be involved in the lynching of Captain Maxwell Mahama at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region.

This implies that fourteen (14) suspects have so far been arrested, and are being investigated over the murder of the Captain.

The first seven which includes the Assemblyman of the area have made their first appearance in court. They were arraigned on June 1, 2017.

A magistrate court in Cape Coast remanded the seven suspects. They were also charged with murder.

The Regional Police PRO, ASP Irene Oppong, told Accra-based Citi FM that one of the suspects was arrested at Techiman in the Brong Ahafo region, while 5 others were arrested at Asankragua in the Western Region.

One of the suspects, identified as Charles Akwasi Buah, was arrested on Friday dawn following a tip-off by an informant at Domenasi Ojobi in the Central Region.

Unconfirmed reports also suggest that his girlfriend whom he sought shelter after fleeing Denkyira-Obuasi reported him to the police.
