Organisers of the annual 4syte Music Video Awards have said the 2015 Gospel Music Video category was not announced at the event because they were hard pressed for time.
In an interview with Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, on Monday, Stip, real name Ezekiel Tetteh, publicist for the scheme stated that the event dragged and made it impossible for the award to be presented to the winner.
“Kingzkid’s ‘ won the Gospel Music Video of the Year. It wasn’t presented. We realised the show was dragging so we couldn’t present all the awards on stage. We’ve spoken to the people in that category that we will present to them live on 4syte TV,” he said.
His explanation comes after gospel musicians, Cwesi Oteng and Preachers had registered their displeasure at the organizers for ‘disrespecting’ gospel artistes on the night.
On why the Most Popular Music Video award was also not presented, Stip stated that there was a tie between Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale and rapper/singer Gasmilla.
“With the Most Popular video, there was actually a tie between Gasmilla and Shatta Wale. It’s 100% public voting so we couldn’t have chosen one out of the two. We wouldn’t want to use our veto power to say this or that is the winner. Both are actually winners. They will have their trophies. Perhaps, at subsequent editions, we will think of what to do about it,” he noted.
The 7th edition of the 4syte Music Video Awards came off on Saturday at the Accra International Conference centre.
Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy was the biggest winner on the night. His ‘Pull Up’ video was adjudged Best Reggae/Dancehall Video and Best Directed Video. He also won the Most Influential Artiste awards.
Hip-hop act, E.L, was second as he bagged two: Best Special Effect and the Best Edited Video awards with his ‘K.W.A.C’ music video.
