IGP gets two more years after retirement

Mr Apeatu will turn 60 on August 15 this year and was therefore expected to proceed on his mandatory retirement.

But the president, Nana Akufo-Addo has decided to give him a two-year contract to enable him to continue with his work.

Mr Apeatu was first appointed to the position in an acting capacity because of the absence of a Council of State in January 2017 when President Akufo-Addo assumed power.

But he was later confirmed substantive IGP following advice from the newly constituted Council of State.
