Unknown gunmen on motorbike attacked the chief, Nene Kpetutu, his son and a family head, who were in a Toyota Corolla vehicle and on their way to Ningo from Sota, in the Shai Osudoku District of Greater Accra region.

Eyewitnesses say the two gunmen on a motorbike followed the vehicle, drove past the men in the vehicle, ordered the men to stop and shot and killed them at Mango Tsonya near Dodowa and escaped immediately.

The motive of the killing is not yet known, but wife and brother of the late chief told Accra-based Joy FM that land disputes could be behind the killing.

The Dodowa Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Kwasi-Ofori has said the police will partner with family members in order to find the perpetrators of the crime.

“We have listened to them [the family], we are working in partnership with them. And whatever they have told us we are keeping it in confidence to advance on it to enable us to identify the perpetrators,” he told Accra-based Joy FM.

Chief Superintendent Kwasi-Ofori urged all and sundry to assist the police with any information that can help in arresting the culprits involved.
