The Porcupine Warriors returned to the field following the road accident that hit the club last month with a 4-1 win against the 2nd division side at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
Obed Owusu, Yakubu Mohammed, Isaac Quansah and Abass Mohammed were the scorers for Asante Kotoko on Wednesday.
The game took place in front of a sparse crowd, who were eager to witness the fitness level of their idol club after the fatal accident on the Nkawkaw-Kumasi highway on 12 July to confirm the team’s preparedness for the Super Clash against Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
Obed Owusu opened the scoring in the 11th minute and Yakubu Mohammed went on the scoresheet when lobbed a through ball from Eric Donkor over the goalkeeper in the 21 minute to double the score line
But Derrick Awuah Boakye reduced the deficit for Natcoster FC in the 39th minute from the spot kick.
Before substitute Isaac Quansah finished off Atta Kusi’s nice corner when he nodded it home to restore Kotoko’s two goal margin in the 72 minute.
And Abass Mohammed put the icing on the cake in the 86th minute when he connected home a solo run by Atta Poku who had dribbled three players before providing a cut-back to the former.
The starting line-up had Ahmed Adams, Eric Donkor, Augustine Sefa, Frank Sarfo Gyamfi, Baba Mahama, Obed Owusu and Yakubu Mohammed – who were all part of the July accident. Later on, Jackson Owusu, Eric Donkor, Obed Owusu and Seth Opare came on for Atta Kusi, Collins Ameyaw, Isaac Quansah and Prince Acquah respectively.
Assistant coach of Koltoko Godwin Ablodey and the stop-gap coach Ernest Appau were in the dugout, while Steve Polack, the head coach was in the stands
