News reaching Pulse Business reveal that Ghanas FPSO Kwame Nkrumah  has shutdown indefinitely.

A source from the Petroleum Ministry who confirmed the news to Pulse Business said, the FPSO developed a technical problem in the pump of the FPSO  on Monday that engineers have not been able to fix. They are uncertain as to when the problem will be fixed.

We are unsure what effect the shutdown will have on the provision of gas to fuel the country's power plants and by extension, the country's energy supply, but supply of lean gas from the FPSO has not fallen.

Tullow, who communicated the leakage to Ghana Gas said the FPSO will completely shut down when all available gas is exhausted.

Various challenges have hindered the delivery of a potential 120 million standard cubic feet of gas a day from the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah to the processing plant at Atuabo.

In January, a faulty compressor was reported to have similarly hindered gas supply from the Jubilee field.
