Liberty punished by Medeama at the Carl Reindolf Park

Match report of the Ghana Premier League game between Liberty Professionals and Medeama SC.

The Scientific Soccer Lads dominated every department of the game but fumbled to find the back of the net, with both Latif Blessing and Emmanuel Sarpong all culpable for their failure to score, and were punished by a brilliant Medeama side who started sluggishly.

A helfty challenge on Bernard Ofori by Samuel Sarfo closed to the area was adjudged to be a foul, and Akwesi Donsu blasted the ball into the net to break the deadlock with half an hour played.

George Lamptey's men flew out their box to nick the equaliser before the end of the first half, but their profligacy continued and they went in for recess frustrated.

A rejuvenated Medeama SC were exceptional in the second half with goal scorer Akwesi Donsu and Samuel Bio terrorising Liberty with their artistry and command over the ball.

Few minutes into the second half, Akwesi Donsu's vision of the game was in display as he unleashed Mohammed Abass with a beauty of a pass. The striker's first touch was gorgeous, but his finish was well saved by Kweku Andoh.

With pressure mounting on George Lamptey, he threw in his options from the bench, but their efforts were as awful as his starters as they blew away the glorious chances to earn a point.

And Medeama held on to finish off the Lads - hammering them their second home defeat of the first round of the season.
