Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly raping a six-month-old pregnant woman at Akyem-Maase in the Akyem-Tafo district of the Eastern Region.
The suspect Kwaku Kumasah, together with three accomplices reportedly drugged the pregnant woman with local gin ‘akpeteshie’ mixed with weed and hydrochloride before having sexual intercourse with her, Accra-based Joy FM reports.
According to the husband of the victim, he came home from work on Saturday and saw his wife lying down and gasping for breath.

Residents subsequently told him that his pregnant wife was raped by his four friends.
The woman was rushed to the hospital and the police were alerted of the incident.
The Regional Police Command has since taken over investigations into the matter, as it searches for the three other suspects who are currently on the run.
