The British High Commissioner to Ghana has charged enterprises not to shy away from discussing challenges confronting them to the powers that be.

“It is important this is not left just left to us foreigners with diplomatic immunity to talk about it, he said about the challenges confronting businesses. “The private sector should talk about the obstacles it faces so as to have a policy discussion about how to overcome them.”

He also decried the country’s high commercial interest rate, saying it is making it difficult for people to respond to it.

“Whether it is bureaucracy, whether it is the difficulty of getting access to credit and even you can, Ghana has one of the highest commercial interest rates which are very very difficult for people to respond to.”

Touching on corruption, Benjamin noted that it should not be a “taboo subject.”

He said corruption in Ghana is real and that “it is important that people talk about it.”
