Ghanaian player's Championship debut ends in heartbreak

Aston Villa have started their season in the English Championship poorly and Ghanaian player Jordan Ayew made his debut.

The Black Stars striker joined Aston Villa at the start of last season when the team were playing in the English Premier League. Despite a superb performance for a very poor Villa team last season, Ayew and his club could not survive relegation as they dropped to another division after sacking two managers in one season.

Jordan has been on Aston Villa’s pre-season tour after his holidays and has performed well for the club despite being linked with a move away.

The Ghana international was given a starting place in Aston Villa’s team that played Sheffield Wednesday away from in the English Championship.

The game which was Jordan’s first in the Championship was not one to remember for the former Olympique Marseille and FC Lorient player as Roberto Di Matteo’s team were humbled to a defeat via a late goal from Fernando Martin Forestieri.

Jordan Ayew played in the entire duration of the game as Aston Villa go back to the drawing board to get their season back on the right track and prevent a repeat of last season.
