The Minister of Gender Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba has said that a former Deputy Transport Minister Joyce Bawa-Mogtari is the reason behind the rift between her (Otiko) and her mother.
Speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM Otiko said Mrs Bawa-Mogtari just a week before the December 7 elections, planned with âstrangersâ and âpacked all my things out of my motherâs home in Boleâ.
âStrangers went and removed my things, so, I called my mum and I told her that: âYou've evicted me from your house, youâve evicted me from your life.â And she apologised for allowing that to happen without my knowledge. So people out there, you donât know my story, so, donât use politics to go there.â

During her vetting for her current position, she was asked by the Minority Leader in Parliament Haruna Iddrisu when was the last time she called her mother.
She responded that she spoke to her mother a week before December 7, 2016.
Otiko in the interview on Asempa said she would not have brought family issues to the public if the NDC had not started it.

âI wouldnât have brought this up had the NDC not been pestering me about my relationship with my mother. They packed all my things from my motherâs house, so, people must know my story before they get up and be asking me about my relationship with my mother.â
âIt was all politics, but they claimed they were going to renovate the house, and, so, needed to move my things, but Iâm the first born, so, I deserve to be pre-informed about such a thing but nothing was told me. I had so many things in my motherâs house, so I told them to wait till I come over or till I send my child over to pack them out, but they paid no heed,â she added.
