The flagbearer made the promise on Monday when he paid courtesy calls on the Regent of Dagbon, the Kampakuya Na, Andani Yakubu Abdulai, who is also head of the Andani Royal Family; and the Bolila Na, Nurudeen Mahama Abdulai, the head of the Abudu Royal family.

He said, “I used to come here and warmly received by your father. Unfortunately, there seem to develop some kind of gap between my party, myself and him and the people of Yendi. The time [has] come to close that gap in the interest of all of us and the interest of development of our country,” Nana Addo said.

He added that “Some of my political opponents have been going around Dagbon to say that when by the grace of God I come, I am going to be destooling chiefs; 31 chiefs [among others]. I am not involved in traditional matters of Dagbon. Chieftaincy is not my business, my business is Ghana and ruling Ghana and making sure that Ghana moves forward.

“In the affairs of my own palace, the Akyem palace in Kyebi, I'm not involved, how do I come here in Dagbon and get myself in the affairs of the Dagbon affairs?” the three-time flagbearer said, adding: “The region, the Andani people, the people of Dagbon have nothing to fear about Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo".

He was in the Northern region with his running mate, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, a former minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, the party’s National Women’s Organiser, Otiko Afisa Djabah, Ablekuma West MP Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, a former Northern Regional Minister, Prince Imoro Andani, the party’s National Nasara Coordinator, Kamaldeen Abdulai, his spokesperson, Mustapha Hamid, campaign Aide, Iddrisu Musah Superior and all regional executives led by regional chairman Daniel Bugri Naabu.
