National Chairman and Secretary in trouble over creation of 'illegal' website

There is uneasy calm in the New Patriotic Party as its National Chairman and General Secretary have clashed with the party's treasurer over an 'illegal' website.

According to reports, several party members have already subscribed to the fundraising website called nppcentre.org.The website was reportedly created by General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong to generate revenue for the party’s campaign ahead of next year’s general elections.

But speaking on Accra based Joy Fm, the party’s treasurer Abankwa Yeboah said “I want to state categorically that the National Executive Committee of the NPP has not approved any such website www.nppcentre.org to raise funds for the party.

“Nothing of the sort has been approved. The approval of any such activity goes through the National Executive Committee and being the secretary and member of the finance committee nothing of the sort has been placed before the NEC.

“I want to say that that website is illegal and I would urge all party members and any sympathizer of the party not to participate in that website” ...he added.

The NPP has been faced with internal wranglings with the party flagearer, Nana Akufo Addo calling for a cease fire.

This is when the Council of Elders of the party wrote to the disciplinary committee of the party to suspend the national chairman Paul Afoko until after the 2016 elections because he was destroying the efforts of the flagbearer and the party’s agenda of winning 2016 elections.
