A statement signed and issued in Accra on Friday by ACP Daniel Eklu, the Director General Public Affairs, said the suspect was arrested at his hideout in Kumasi.
It will be recalled that on September 24, 2017, there was wide circulation on various social media platforms about terrorist attack on the Accra Mall, creating fear and panic and nearly destabilised business activities at the mall.
His arrest, the statement said, came after “thorough investigation conducted by the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID).”
The suspect, whose is said to be the originator of the hoax, according to the statement, is assisting the police with investigations.
The Police cautioned the public to desist from the use of pranks, assuring that it has the capacity to “fish out persons who circulate false news on social media and other platforms in relation to issues that can have national security implications.”
