Black Stars head coach Otto Addo continued his coaching mission across Europe this week, making a stop in Austria to watch two emerging Ghanaian talents in UEFA Europa League action.Addo was present at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg as Red Bull Salzburg defeated FC Basel 3–1, a match that featured Edmund Baidoo for Salzburg and Jonas Adjei Adjetey for Basel.

The visit forms part of the national team coach’s broader effort to assess Ghanaian players abroad as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Baidoo, one of Ghana’s most exciting young attackers, started the match for Salzburg and put in an energetic display before being substituted late in the game.

The teenage winger, who joined the Austrian giants after impressing in Norway, showed flashes of pace and direct attacking intent that underlined why he is being closely monitored at the highest level.

On the opposite side, Adjetey completed the full 90 minutes for Basel, anchoring the defence in a demanding European fixture.

The centre-back’s composure and positional discipline stood out despite Basel’s defeat, further strengthening his growing reputation as a dependable defender in Swiss football.

The Salzburg visit is one of several recent scouting trips by Otto Addo, who has been travelling across Europe to personally assess both established internationals and emerging prospects.

In recent weeks, the Black Stars coach has watched Abdul Mumin and Kwasi Sibo in Spain, while also checking on key national team players such as Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Mohammed Kudus in different European leagues.

Edmund Baidoo earned his move to Salzburg after a productive spell in Norway, and he is now part of a club known for developing young talents into elite European players. His progress has attracted growing attention from both club and country.

Jonas Adjei Adjetey, meanwhile, has become a regular figure in Basel’s back line this season. His full-match involvement in a high-pressure European fixture highlighted his growing maturity and readiness for the demands of top-level football.
