The figure represents 11.7 per cent reduction compared to the same period last year when 273 children were killed.
According to the Director for Research at the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), Mr Martin Afram, 1,534 road deaths was recorded between January and September 2017.
He added that 141 of the children who died in the road crashes were males while 100 were females.
The Director for Research made this known after OmniBank had donated 25 pairs of crossing stands with wooden signage to the NRSC.
He said 402 children below the age of 18 years were involved in the accidents, adding that 2,198 traffic fatalities reported in 2016.
