The Energy Commission has begun distributing free solar panels in line with the 200,000 free solar panel distribution program.
This is an attempt to reduce pressure on the national grid by encouraging consumers to use renewable energy.
Acting Director of the Renewable Energy Commission, Otu Dankwah tells Pulse.com.gh that the distribution process has already began, and over five hundred solar panels have been distributed already.

“We started the distribution last year, and even this month we did a draw which saw about one hundred individuals got free solar panels and inventors.”
Addressing concerns about the need for individuals to purchase inventors and batteries before they are eligible for a free solar panel, Mr. Otu Dankwah said some financial institutions are ready to provide soft loans for interested persons.
“ We realize that the batteries and inventors may be expensive for some people, so some banks have been contacted and they are interested in providing finance to interest persons.”
