Muntari during his playing days has been involved in a host of controversial angry reactions.
5 times the Black Stars midfielder lost his cool
Here are five times Ghanaian player Sulley Muntari lost his cool. There are more … obviously!
Sulley Muntari’s indefinite suspension by the GFA
The Black Stars midfielder slapped Black Stars management committee member Moses Armah during a meeting to sort out a bonus row that had negatively clouded the Black Stars’ stay in Brazil at the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament.
Muntari’s actions saw him get an indefinite suspension from the Ghana Football Association who demanded an apology from the former AC Milan and Inter Milan player to reinstate him in the senior national team of Ghana.
Kevin-Prince Boateng was also banned from the Black Stars for verbally attacking former coach Kwesi Appiah.
Sulley Muntari and David Beckham
David Beckham is one of the most loved football players ever to have graced the planet earth. Aside his splendid free-kicks and pinpoint long range passes, the former England captain’s sense of fashion style both on and off the pitch is loved by many.
When Beckham however got on the nerves of Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari in Inter Milan’s 2-1 2in over AC Milan, he felt the wrath.
Muntari in the clash held the former Manchester United player by the neck with rage. The players were separated by teammates but not before Muntari destroyed Beckham’s carefully styled hairstyle.
Sulley Muntari and Jermain Jones at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil
The pictures of the clash between Sulley Muntari of Ghana and Jermain Jones of the United States of America went viral than the actual match report after the Black Stars’ first group game at the tournament.
Muntari has a late challenge on Jones, but after the USA midfielder fell on the Ghana international post tackle, the Black Stars midfielder angrily grounded Jermain Jones by the throat to the ground.
Referee however intervenes and the players make up with a handshake.
Still ouch! Right?
Sulley Muntari at Al Ittihad
The Ghana international physically attacked an opposition during his team’s game against Al Wahda, hitting him to the ground in the Crown Prince Cup [Saudi’s Champions Cup].
The player went on to play in the full duration of the game but received a suspension upon review by a disciplinary committee later on.
Sulley Muntari and the AC Milan shirt
One thing football fans everywhere will not take: a player disrespecting their traditions.
In the mind of a Muntari in a temper tantrum, who cares?
The Ghana international ignited the fury of fans of the Rossoneri when he threw the AC Milan shirt on the floor in a global disgraceful reaction by any account.
The full reason for Sulley Muntari’s reaction: Pippo Inzaghi, the then coach of AC Milan subbed the Ghana international for Andrea Poli.
Like seriously, right?
