19th February, 1994, Coventry striker Mick Quinn scored the landmark 2000th goal in the Barclays Premier League as the Sky Blues defeated Manchester City 4-0 at Highfield Road.
The powerful former Newcastle United forward, who netted eight times in the 1993/94 campaign, registered his side’s second goal, after David Rennie had opened the scoring for the hosts. Peter Ndlovu, who was the club’s top scorer with 11 goals that season, added a third before John Williams rounded off an impressive win.
Coventry finished in 11th place in the 1993/94 season – their joint-highest finish in the Premier League – after an impressive seven-match unbeaten run at the end of the campaign.
Manchester City finished three places and three points above the relegation zone despite this disappointing defeat in the Midlands.
