These were made known in a speech read on his behalf by the Pro-Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Samuel Kwame Offei, at the congregation ceremony of the University of Ghana College of Education in Accra last Saturday.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, who disclosed this further urged the government to provide additional financial clearance to enable the university to obtain its complement of staff.
“In July, I informed congregation that the continued lack of financial clearance for recruitment means that the university is severely constrained in the employment of faculty, administrators, and other staff.
“This situation has now changed towards a positive direction,” Prof. Offei said.
Prof. Owusu further touched on how the absence of a council for the university from January to July this year affected its decision-making.
He, however, said: “I am pleased to announce that the newly constituted council of the university has now been duly inaugurated and is working assiduously to move the university forward.”
