In scenes reminiscent of Ferguson, Missouri, hundreds of protestors took to the streets of Chicago last night over the murder of Laquan McDonald.
Vic Mensa clashes with Chicago police during protest
Ghanaian/American rapper Vic Mensa has been spotted clashing with police during a protest in Chicago. Watch below.
The 17-year-old black teenager, who was carrying a three-inch folding knife, was shot 16 times by Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke last October, but it was only yesterday, November 26 when the dashcam footage of the incident was made public on judge’s orders. It’s a decision that has been heavily criticised by community leaders and ultimately lead to anger spilling over on to the streets.
Ghanaian/American rapper Vic Mensa was part of the protests and is seen clashing with the police in a CBS news report (at the 1:30 mark).
In another video posted on Twitter, he calls for “justice for Laquan” and “justice for our people” while also saying police put hands on him. He later tweeted, “hands put on me by police was inaccurate. fighting police.”
