The actress’ self directed film “Dry” was named Best Overall Movie Africa at the prestigious ceremony in Lagos on Saturday, March 5.
"Dry" tells the story of a teenage girl who is forced to marry a man four times her age.

In her acceptance speech Linus said the film was dedicated to women without voices and going through issues like underage marriages and VVF.

Speaking after the ceremony she said her film represented issues, abuse and stigmatization faced by the girl child.

Linus, who wrote, directed and edited the film said:
“The movie dared to ask certain questions that is in our heart and we hear about them but we don’t really understand them.
“So I brought the subject that people are not really aware about and I opened their eyes to let them realize that this is all around us”.

“Dry” was nominated in the category alongside “Ayanda” (by Sara Blecher), “Freetown” (by Adam Abel and Garrett Batty), “House Arrest” (by Joseph Kenneth Ssebaggala), “Road To Yesterday” (by Chinny Onwugbenu, Genevieve Nnaji, Chichi Nwoko), “Silver Rain” (by Juliet Asante) and “Tell Me Sweet Something” (by Akin Omotoso).

The movie also took home in the award for Best Sound Editor (Marquex Jose Guillermo) and Best Costume Designer (Uche Nancy).
It received AMVCA nominations in six other categories including: Best Movie -West Africa, Best Cinematographer, Best Art Director, Best Director and Best Makeup Artist.
Inspired by a true story, the movie features Darwin Shaw as Dr. Alex, the legendary Liz Benson Ameye as the Matron and Bill McNamara as Dr. Brown. It also stars also stars acting newbie Zubaida Ibrahim as Halima who was only 12 years old at the time she took on the role.
