James Ene Henshaw Jnr. arrives in Ghana for his father’s play

In eagerness to have a glimpse of what happens at the National Theatre this weekend, son of the late James Ene Henshaw writer of the popular Nigerian comedy play ‘Medicine For Love’, Mr James Ene Henshaw Jnr has arrived in Ghana. Explaining his reasons for coming to country to www.cypressghana.com , Mr James Ene Henshaw Jnr said, ‘Medicine For Love’ is a Pan African, traditional and hilarious stage play which his father wrote in the year 1964, but still has relevance in the modern world.He said, many times he has heard of people staging his father’s play in Ghana but not in a major production, so he was extremely amazed and curious when he received a mail from April Communications Ltd to come and watch his father’s ‘Medicine For Love’ being staged on a bigger platform. “My dad was a very quiet man, he never promoted himself. He just wrote the plays and the plays spoke for him. So I become overwhelmed whenever I see his works being used outside Nigeria and that actually drives me to work harder to promote his works to the international community. Mr James Ene Henshaw Jnr, back in Nigeria, has created the James Ene Henshaw Foundation (JEHF) to put together all his father’s nine notable published works into a compendium and also maintain his literary legacy. Launched in December 2013, the Foundation has been touring schools, mainly secondary schools, to promote his father’s books and widen the participation of young people in the dramatic arts.Mr James Henshaw Jnr, 56yrs, is currently the Executive Director of the James Ene Henshaw Foundation and a writer. He is the first son of James Ene Henshaw, and married with two kids. He was mostly based in the UK until recently when the Foundation was launched in Nigeria. He has also urged all Ghanaians to come to the National Theatre in their numbers on the 23rd and 24th of October to experience the suspense, intrigue and rib cracking laughter of the hilarious play.
