Movie dominates box office with $247m

While the "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" dominated the weekend box office with its massive opening, it still fell short of expectations.

The movie which racked in $247 million globally, fell short of projections that the picture would open to $300 million worldwide domestically.

Despite its low opening, the movie is currently the the year's fifth biggest opening.

The first part of "The Hunger Games : The Mockingjay" ended up grossing $337 million domestically in 2014, after a $121.9 million opening.

dropped to second place with $14.6 million.

"The Peanuts Movie" took the third place with $12.8 million, while "The Night Before" took the fourth spot with  $10.1 million.

Julia Roberts "Secret in their Eyes" opened in fifth place with $6.7 million.
