Few days after Highlife-artiste-turned-pastor, Ofori Amponsah released a single announcing his comeback to highlife, record producer, Morris Babyface has chastised him for the move.

Ofori Amponsah is out with a new song titled which features Ghana’s BET Award winner, Sarkodie.

But born again musician and producer, Morris Babyface in a Facebook post stated that he was saddened by the move which has led to people calling the highlife artiste, Pastor Alewa.

He indicated that the musician cum pastor has availed himself as a channel through which people can mock God.

“It saddens my heart to hear people call Ofori Amponsah "Pastor Alewa"..Ofori has availed himself as a channel through which people can mock God. . .I believe he's blazing a trail which if not timely intercepted by Christians who are brave and fearless, and can stand being chastised by the world, very soon some Christians (the youth especially) are going to think it's normal and might start following that path of deception. then we shall be hearing of Christian nightclubs, sanctified prostitutes, holy sinners, and on, and on . . . may God have mercy on us all. .,” Morris posted.

In July 2012, Ofori Amponsah formed a church after claiming to have received the calling of God to be a pastor. He however announced earlier this year his decision to return to secular music. He insisted that it would not conflict with his work as a Pastor.

His manager, Frank Agyekum has argued that the artiste was “back to highlife to continue doing those love songs he used to sing and even do it better. He is back to sing love songs to heal the broken-hearted.”

In August, 2015, Morris in an interview with Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show,  suggested that the decision by Ofori Amponsah to return to highlife was dangerous as the singer or whoever decides to go back to the world will end up winning souls for the devil.

“There are some secular songs that preach virtue. When people listen to such songs, they may change from their wrongs but that does not guarantee them a place in Heaven. Any pastor who will do a secular music stands rejected by Christians and ridiculed by the world. The Bible likened such people to a dog going back to its own vomit. So I don’t know of a real pastor who will do that. What are you telling the church? That they should go sing secular songs? And what message are you sending to the world? That they should continue to stay where they are?” he quizzed.

“The world is currently being ruled by the devil. The moment you proclaim you are a follower of Christ, Satan will oppose you. There will be extreme hardship but all is to test your faith to see if indeed, you have turned your back to the world. Sometimes if things look rosy for you, that can make you do worse things than when you were a non-believer. God grooms you and later showers his blessings on you just like Job,” Morris added.
