They are officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest living couple who are set to celebrate their 80th wedding anniversary on December 22, 2019.

The elderly couple met 85 years ago when they sat in a zoology class in 1934 and John expressed interest in Charlotte.

Reports say John and Charlotte tied the knot in a tiny ceremony with only two guests present on Dec. 22, 1939.

During their honeymoon in San Antonio, they stayed at a hotel that cost $7 a night then.

Their 8-decade long marriage comes second to that of Zelmyra and Herbert Fisher, who married at the ages of 17 and 19, respectively, and stayed married for 86 years and 290 days before Herbert’s death in 2011.

John Henderson told the Washington Post on Sunday: “it took her five years to make up her mind that she wanted to get married.”

“And I well-remember that long antenna. They had to put it up from the front yard to the backyard to receive a radio show,” he added, recounting fond memories of his youthful days.

Narrating how it all started for them, Charlotte told The Washington Post: “I thought he was just a fine fella, and I didn’t mind his looking over my shoulder.”

Congratulations to John and Charlotte for the milestone attained. It is no mean a feat because some people even divorce in less than an hour after marriage.
