A car snatcher, Emmanuel Chukwunonso, would be blaming his luck after the vehicle he and his partner in crime known as Chima, broke down and he was arrested by the police from the Maroko Police Division in Lekki, Lagos.
According to the police report, Chukwunonso and Chima who managed to escape, had snatched a Honda Accord car marked EK804LSD, at gun point but while trying to escape, the car suddenly developed a fault not far from the scene of the robbery.
Chukwunonso was caught by a mob and was nearly lynched before the police rescued him while Chima managed to escape.
The 24-year-old Chima confessed that he was an Indian Hemp seller in Imo State before he came to Lagos to try his hands on crime.
"When I came to the Lekki area of Lagos, I took up work as a security man. I was paid N25,000 monthly.
After I was fired from the security work, a friend, Chima, and I decided we were going to rob and get money to solve our problems.
It was on February 23 that we snatched the car. Two ladies were inside the vehicle. We accosted them and pointed a gun at them. They both jumped out and took to their heels. It was a toy gun.
As we fled, the vehicle began to give us problems. It had a gear problem. As I alighted, a crowd swooped on me, but Chima escaped."
