Police arrest teenage student for threatening teacher on Twitter

Researchers at Dartmouth College have shown that data automatically collected by an Android app can guess how students are spending their time and predicting their end-of-term grades with scary accuracy.

A student at Winter Park High School has been arrested by police for posting hate comments on Twitter about a teacher at the school.

The juvenile student whose identity was not revealed had threatened his teacher, Samantha Fischer, in a number of tweets which have since been deleted from the micro blogging site.

His tweets include:

  • "Someone bail me out of prison when I murder Ms Fischer I'm about to stab her I'm literally so pissed right now someone help."
  • "I HOPE MS FISCHER KILLS HERSELF"
  • "MS FISCHER IS SUCH A (expletive) I'M LITERALLY ABOUT TO STAB HER IN THE FACE."
  • "I am on the verge of tears I want to rip her face off."
  • "I hope that ms Fischer goes on the roof of the school and jumps off into a pit of fire."

Fischer told the police she was left “extremely and emotionally distraught" by the hate tweets.

Police have charged him with intimidation by writing threat to kill or injure and stalking.
