A middle aged Zimbabwean woman was burnt alive in an unprecedented jungle justice after she was wrongly accused of killing a young boy in shanty town near Pretoria, the South African capital, reports the Guardian.
The police say that her male companion managed to escape the lynching after police intervened.
The incident took place after several days of tensions, which was sparked the death of an eight-year-old boy believed to have been killed by the woman and her partner through witchcraft but a probe later proved that the boy died after he had been electrocuted.
Three people have been arrested over the woman’s murder and are only facing charges of public violence because in the laws of the country, there were 500 people and more evidence is needed to accuse the trio of lynching the victim.
